Players can hold overlapping Set Championship registrations and block local capacity

Source

Featurebase reports from 2026-06-13/14:

Problem

Players are registering for multiple Set Championship events in the same time slot, then no-showing or dropping very late. That can fill scarce local capacity, leave other players unable to register, and in some cases may prevent a local event from firing with enough players.

Evidence

Two independent Featurebase reports describe the same pattern: overlapping Set Championship signups, late drops/no-shows, and local players losing access to limited-capacity events.

Product decision needed

This needs a policy decision before implementation: should the platform block overlapping registrations, warn players, auto-waitlist, limit only premium/championship events, or leave this to publisher/store policy?

90/10 slice

For capacity-constrained championship-style events, prevent or warn on overlapping player registrations for events whose scheduled start times conflict enough that the player cannot reasonably attend both.

Success criteria

  • [ ] Product decides which event types/programs should enforce overlapping-registration limits.
  • [ ] A player cannot silently hold conflicting registrations for policy-covered events.
  • [ ] The UI explains the conflict and points the player to the already-held registration.
  • [ ] Existing registration/drop/waitlist behavior remains intact for non-conflicting events.
